The final Big Picture puzzle involved a road trip, as every great treasure hunt should. This one was a fictional road trip, though, with the explanation that we were visiting the birth places of some of our favorite semi-obscure historical figures.
Side note, we hope you enjoyed reading about some of these people. They’re not people who are typically covered in history books, but they accomplished some remarkable things and deserve your five to ten minutes of absorbing some Wikipedia.
The key to Road Trip isn’t the locations, it’s the birth years of the people on the itinerary. (Note the “…see the birth places…” in the puzzle intro.)
The locations were only on the itinerary to help ensure that our searchers identified the correct Clinton Riggs and Peggy Church. Nonetheless, we posted a clarification about Ned Eastman Barnes after launching, since some of our hunters pointed out that sources varied on Ned’s birthplace.
To find digits for coordinates, simply take the final digit of each person’s birth year. (“At last! We’ve been wanting to do this for years!” from the intro.) You should end up with 30.30904, -104.020630, right in the middle of one of our favorite Texas locations, Marfa.
We’re already planning the next hunt! Want to be the first to know when it launches? Sign up here for early email notifications.
