Have I mentioned how much I like the art of Charles Wysocki? Seems like an odd choice for a guy whose art mainstays are Frank Frazetta, H.R. Giger, Michael Parkes, and Boris Vallejo, but…there you go. I love Wysocki’s paintings of rural scenes and rooms full of kittens.
Maggie The Messmaker is a quick, fun build. Only 300 pieces, and in large format, which made this a great exercise in speed building for me. But a nicely relaxing piece of art if you want to take your time — in fact, the link I’ve provided is to the 1000 piece version. You can also find this puzzle in a 750 variety, but if you want the 300 piece version from the video, here’s a link.
It’s also the first one I tried on my new ALL4JIG Tilting and Rotating Puzzle Board. That board is fantastic. The lazy susan mechanism is nice and smooth and the assembly surface is huge; definitely big enough for most 1500 piece puzzles. I put Maggie The Messmaker together with the board tilted. Though I didn’t crack out a compass to check, I’m pretty sure the tilt is about 40 degrees. The pieces didn’t slide at all. If you’re considering a puzzle assembly board I’d strongly recommend this one. With a nice Wysocki puzzle to go with it.
