Pi In Black And White

I found this one quite fun, though I suspect it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. There isn’t much to say about the art — it’s pi, literally. Just numbers. Lots and lots of numbers. But since I love numbers and have an affinity for pi, it made for an entertaining build.

I wasn’t very far in when I realized that this one wouldn’t fit on my puzzle board. I do have a really nice puzzle board. It’s about 26″ x 34″, so most 1,000 piece puzzles fit on it quite nicely. Not this one, though. Which I guess makes sense, because pi is an irrational number and has infinite decimal places.

The puzzle’s physical quality is pretty average. It doesn’t feel “cheap,” but it doesn’t feel particularly high quality, either. It’s certainly nowhere near Art & Fable quality. The artist isn’t credited, and it’s published by some outfit called Bgraamiens Puzzles. Most of the back text on the box describes the Chinese company that manufactures it.

Some cool notes, though. First, like many circular puzzles, the backs of the pieces are coded with letters. The puzzle is divided into 11 wedges, labeled A through K, and you can make it a lot easier by working one letter at a time. Also, it does come with a fold-out sheet that’s also quite large. I used a few weighted tokens to keep my place on the reference sheet while I assembled this one.

When I posted the completed image on Facebook I got a lot of “nope” responses, so I’ll just say…I enjoyed it, but your mileage may vary.
