FAQ

Is this a boots on the ground quest?

The final phase is boots on the ground. The first few puzzles will identify a location roughly 11 to 12 acres. The remaining puzzles zero in on the hiding spot for the token. If you’ve solved everything correctly, you should have no trouble finding the token.

How challenging is the terrain where token is hidden?

Think “walk in the park.” It’s not wheelchair friendly, but it’s close. In geocaching terms, the terrain difficulty is a 1. You can drive a vehicle within 150 feet of the hide.

How long is this hunt going to take?

We’re targeting four months or less. Some of the puzzles are rather difficult, but we also don’t want this to be a years-long endeavor. And we want it to be entertaining for everyone who plays, so we’re going to keep things moving along. As we see how people are progressing through the puzzles, we’ll release hints that give you some help without giving you the answers outright.

When will hints be published?

The first hint will come out about three weeks post-launch.

How will hints be shared?

The hints will be posted on the Announcements page, right after emailing them to all registered entrants. If we see an active message board or Discord community develop, we’ll let people know there that hints have been posted as well. Be sure to add TopBug@skipworkplaygames.com to your safe sender or contacts list.

Can I buy exclusive hints?

Nope. Any hint we share is shared with the entire entrant list. We feel this is the best way to keep a level playing field.

Can I work in a team?

Of course! However, you’ll have to determine how to split the prize. The prize will be sent to only one person, who must be on our entrant list via purchasing a materials packet. If you invite four friends to work as a team, it’s up to you to split the prize with them appropriately.

What if the token is missing when I get to the site?

Your materials package includes instructions for an alternate means of identifying the hide site. It’ll be specific enough that you must get to the token’s location, but easy enough to follow that you’ll be able to claim the win even if the token is missing.

Will you announce prize increases?

Yes, if the number of entrants passes any of our prize thresholds, we’ll post the new prize level on the Announcements page.

What’s to stop me from posting the puzzles on the internet?

Nothing, except common sense. If you share our puzzles with the general public, you’ll just increase the chance that other players get help toward the solutions. Feel free to spread the word about the hunt — the more people who enter, the higher your potential prize will be. But it’s probably in your best interest not to share the puzzles themselves in public forums.
